◇비교(급) : 둘 또는 두 묶음일 때

Patrick is taller than Andy.

Humans are smarter than animals.

패트릭이 더 크다 / 앤디보다

인간이 더 똑똑하다 / 동물보다


◇최상(급) : 셋 이상일 때

Patrick is the tallest person in his family.

패트릭은 가장 크다/ 그의 가족 중에서




◇비교급

~er /more ~

>> Today is colder.

>>Question 2 is more difficult.

*짧은 단어는 끝에 er을 붙임

cheap - cheaper

cold - colder

fast - faster

long-longer

old-older

*e로 끝나는 짧은 단어는 끝에 그냥 r만 붙임

large-larger

late-later

nice-nicer

*모음+자음 - 모음 +자음자음 +er

big - bigger

hot - hotter

thin - thinner

*~y -> ~ier

early - earlier

easy - easier

happy - happier

heavy - heavier

pretty - prettier

*긴단어 long words(2/3/4... syllable):

more + beautiful / careful / difficult / expensive ..

*예외

good/ well - better (좋은 - 더 좋은)

bad - worse (나쁜 - 더 나쁜)

far - farther (먼 - 더 먼)

◇than 비교할때 추가로 설명을 붙임

The Amazon is longer than the Nile.

◇more/less (than ..)

수량을 비교할때

1 gallon is more than 1 liter.

1 liter is less than 1 gallon.

Garbage men make more money than sales managers.

Sales managers make less money than garbage men.

I want to have more friends.

I waited more than an hour.

The station is less than a mile away from here.

I have less time than I need.

 


◇much, a lot, far, a little, a bit

Whales are much bigger than goldfish.

Today is a little warmer than yesterday.

I think German is much more difficult than English.

It took a lot longer than I expected.

My new smartphone is far better than the old one.

Grapes are a little more expensive than apples now.

My brother is a bit taller than me.



◇예문

코끼리가 곰보다 크다.

이 소파가 그 의자보다 더 편하다.

공항이 기차역보다 멀다

어젯밤 나는 집에 오는데 한 시간도 넘게 걸렸다.

그의 차가 내 차보다 훨씬 더 빠르다.
