◇am/are/is ~ing ☞ was/were ~ing

I'm working at the moment. 나 지금 일하는 중이여

I was working at this time yesterday. 나 어제 이맘때 일하는 중이었어

현재진행은 바로지금에 집중~

과거진행은 과거의 어느 한 시점에 집중~~

I was sleeping at midnight.

I'm sorry. I wasn't listening. What did you say?

난 밤12시에 자고있는중이었어

미안, (방금그거잠깐~)못들었어. 뭐라그랬써?

*I didn't listening. 은 말 전체를 못들었단 뜻(퍼져있는 느낌)

과거진행(wasn't listening) 으로 하면 집중의 느낌 : 방금말한 그걸 못들었다는 느낌적인 느낌 (단순과거보다 덜 기분나쁨)

What were you doing at this time last week?

지난주 이맘때쯤 뭐하던 중이었어?

◇was/were ~ing + when

when은 이미 끝난일(over)니까 ~ed로 쓴다

I was taking a shower when the light went out.

When Sam met his wife, they were working for the same company.

What were you doing when the phone rang?

I was taking a shower.

샤워하고 있는데 불이 나가버렸쓰

샘이 그의 아내를 만났을때 그들은 같은회사에 다니는중이었지

전화벨울릴때 너 뭐하고 있었냐

샤워하는 중이었지

◇was/were ~ing + while

한~참 뭐 하다가의 느낌 while를 자주 쓴다

while이 ~ing를 좋아하니까 while를 붙일꺼면 ing를 쓰는게 좋음

Sam met his wife while they were working for the same company.

The light went out while I was taking a shower.

샘이 그의 아내를 만났지 한참 그들이 같은회사에서 일하는 중에

불이 꺼져버렸어 한참 샤워하고 있는데

◇예문

루시는 매일 청바지를 입는데, 어제는 치마를 입고 있었어

Lucy wears jeans every day, but she was wearing a skirt yesterday.

그는 5분전만해도 소파에 앉아 있었어요.

He was sitting on the sofa five minutes ago.

내가 도착했을 때 그는 기다리고 있었지

He was waiting for me when I arrived.

(= While he was waiting for me, I arrived.)이렇게 말해도 틀린건 아니지만

난 책읽다가 잠이 들었다. (한~참~ 하~다~가~ 의 느낌은 while을 씀)

I fell asleep while I was reading the book.

(=When I fell asleep, I was reading the book.)

◇Dialogue

Bill is missing. The police are asking his friend John questions.

P : Did you see Bill this morning?

J : Yes. I saw him at the bus stop. He was waiting for a bus.

P : What was he wearing?

J : He was wearing a black T-shirt and jeans.

P : Was he carrying a bag?

J : Yes, he was carrying a small bag.

빌이 실종됐다. 경찰이 그의 친구 존을 심문하고 있다

오늘아침에 빌을 보았나요?

네 그를 버스정류장에서 봤어요. 그는 버스를 기다리는 중이었죠

뭘 입고 있던가요?

그는 까만 티에 청바지를 입고 있었어요

가방을 들고있던가요?

네 작은 가방을 들고있었어요

어쩌다 다리가 부러졌냐?

한참 스키타다가 부러졌다
