1형식 : 주어 동사(자동사)

2형식 : 주어 동사(be동사와 그 친구들) 보어

3형식 : 주어 동사(타동사) 목적어

◇Some verbs have two objects.

 S + V + O +O

4형식 : 주어 동사(수여동사) 직접목적어 간접목적어

Nicole gave me a book.

니콜이 나에게 책 한권을 주었어.

*give(gave) ~에게 ~을 주다

I sent them an email.

난 그들에게 이메일한통을 보내주었다.

Can I get you some coffee?

내가 너한테 커피를 좀 갖다줄까?

*get의 뜻은 겁나게 많은데 여기서는 >> ~에게 ~을 갖다주다

Mom made me a cake.

엄마가 나에게 케잌을 만들어주었다

◇Give something to somebody

Nicole gave me a book.

Nicole gave a book to me.

목적어 순서를 바꾸고 싶다면 명사 또는 대명사 앞에 전치사를 붙임

I sent an email to them.(=I sent them an email.)

Pass the ball to me!(=Pass me the ball.)

◇get something for somebody

Can I get you some coffee?

Can I get some coffee for you?

*to 는 어떤 방향이 있음 vs. for는 위한다는 느낌적인 느낌

They make toys for children.(=They make children toys.)

◇give it to me

영어는 했던말 또하는걸 싫어한다 경제적이다 반복을 안좋아한다 그래서 it 또는 them 의 대명사를 사용하게됨

Can you give it to me?

(Can you give me it?) it이나 them의 대명사는 자리가 두개 있으면 무조건 앞자리로, 끝에있는걸 무척 싫어해, 낯설어

I sent them to my parents.

(I sent my parents them.)

그거 나에게 줄 수 있니?

그것들을 부모님께 보냈어

◇Verb + Complement(2형식)

S + V + C

여기서 동사는 be, become, seem, feel

He is a teacher.

He is hungry.

He is in the kitchen.

◇Verb + Object + Adjective/Noun(5형식)

S + V + O + C

 여기서 동사는 make, find, name, paint, call, etc.

 * 여기서 보어는 목적격보어로써 목적어를 보충설명함

You make me happy.

They made him class captain.

I found the book interesting.

넌 날 행복하게 해

그들은 그를 반장으로 만들었다

난 그 책이 재밌다고 생각했어

*find가 찾다는 동사가 아니고 ~라고 생각했다 로 쓰임

◇비교

He called me last night.

He calls his cat Tiger.

그는 어젯밤에 나한테 전화했다

그는 그의 고양이를 호랑이라고 불렀어(5형식)

I found a small seashell.

I found the story funny.

조그만 조개껍데기를 발견했어요

그 이야기가 재밌다고 느꼈다(5형식)

◇예문

소금 좀 건네주세요

내가 맥주 한잔 사줄게

날 화나게 만들지 마

그냥 Jane이라고 불러 주세요

Can you pass me the the salt?

I'll buy you a beer.

Don't make me angry.

Just call me Jane, please.

◇Dialogue

Julia and Nicole are sharing an apartment.

Julia is calling Nicole on her way home.

J : I'm on my way home now. Can I get you anything from the supermarket?

N : Can you get me some orange juice?

J : OK. No problem. Anything else?

N : No. Just come home soon. I'll cook dinner for you tonight.
