◇Subject + Verb

주어 + 동사

Birds fly.

The children are sleeping.

새는 난다

아이들이 자고 있네요

◇S + V + C : Subject + Be Verb + Complement

주어 + be동사 + 보어

I am hungry.

My father is at work.

나 배고프다

아부지 회사에 계심

◇S + V + O : Subject + Verb + Object

주어 + 동사 + 목적어

*동사의 대상이 되는것을 꼭 집어넣어줘야 하는 것이다

I like chocolate.

He kicked the ball.

나 좋아해 /초콜릿을

그는 찼다/ 공을

◇A transitive verb has an object. (t. 타동사)

An intransitive verb has no object. (it. 자동사)

자동사는 S+V로 끝나는거

타동사는 O가 와야함

it. 자동사 >>

We laughed.

He ran.

Alice was swimming.

t. 타동사 >>

I sold my car.

They drank beer.

David cleaned the apartment.

우리는 웃는다

그는 달린다

앨리스는 수영해

난 팔았다 차를

그들은 마신다 맥주를

◇Some verbs can be transitive or intransitive.

어떤 동사들은 타동사도 되구 자동사두 된다

장난 나랑 지금 하냐

She sang. it.

She sang a song. t.

그녀는 노래한다

그녀는 노래 한곡을 불렀다

What are you doing?

I'm reading. it.

What are you reading?

I'm reading a sports magazine. t.

뭐해?

나 독서해.

너 지금 뭐 읽냐

◇Transitive Verbs have two forms

타동사는 두가지 형태로 얘기할 수 있다

active : Somebody delivers milk every morning.

passive : Milk is delivered every morning.

능동태 : 누군가 우유를 매일아침 배달한다

수동태 : 우유는 매일아침 배달된다

◇Passive Sentences

수동태

be + p.p(past participle)

p.p 는 그저 받아들여지는, 받고, 당하는 느낌. 동사 아님. 그러니까 앞에 be붙임

The smartphones are made in Korea.

Cakes are not sold here.

Is breakfast served in this hotel?

이 호텔 아침 주나요?

◇Use passive when the subject is not clear, too general, or too obvious.

의도를 더 잘 드러나게 표현할때 수동태를 씀

Somebody cleans the room every day.

>> The room is cleaned every day.

누군!가가! 방을 매일 치워요(주어가 somebody니까 포인트가 누군가로 가버림)

방은 매일 치웁니다(직역하면 치워진다)

They sell cold drinks here.

Cold drinks are sold here.

그 사람들이 뭐 파냐 했을때 >그들이 찬음료를 여기서 팝니다 / 와 같은 포인트

찬 음료는 여기서 팝니다(직역하면 팔려진다)

◇예문

그는 조용히 앉았다. 자동사(it.)

나는 수학이 질색이다. 타동사(t.)

He sat quietly.

I hate math.

◇Dialogue

Andy wants to make some toast. He is looking for butter.

A : Mom, where is the butter?

M : It is always kept in the fridge.

A : Where in the fridge? I can't see it.

M : Look on the top shelf.
